Nigeria@60: Hon. Barde Greets Nigerians, Constituents

Immediate past minority whip of the House of Representatives and member representing ChikunKajuru Federal constituency, Yakubu Umar Barde has congratulated Nigeria and Nigerians particularly his constituents on the attainment of 60th anniversary of Nigeria as an Independent nation.

In an Independence message issued by him, Hon. Barde who is a fifth termer at the green chamber noted that given our resources, both material and human, Nigeria should have achieved greater heights, adding that “we are a nation blessed with unlimited resources from God and should be seen making greater impacts.”

He lamented however that, Nigeria’s greatest undoing is visionless and insincere leadership which has failed to take advantage of these God given gifts to build a virile, and progressive nation.

“Although we are still together as one people and as a country, corruption, injustice, ethnicity, religious bigotry among several other negative indices has characterized our existence as a country.

“Unfortunately, Nigerian leaders have consistently refused to build even on the modest achievements of the leaders who fought for the Independence we are celebrating today.

” Nigeria must come out of her negative narratives such as being the headquarters of poverty with large number of her citizens being unemployed”.

He urged leaders at all levels to do all within their powers to provide the needed security for all and sundry like it was in past and also build confidence in the minds of her citizens.

Hon. Barde commended his constituents for the continued support and confidence always reposed in him, assuring that he will continue to give their interest topmost priority while calling for prayers to end the insecurity in the country and particularly his constituency.
