Election Tribunal: My Witnesses Lives Are Been Threatened – Sen. Shehu Sani

In an effort to save the lives of his witnesses, Senator Shehu Sani of the People’s Redemption Party (PRP), who is one of those challenging the victory of Senator Uba Sani at the recently concluded Kaduna Central Senatorial District elections today, 28th July, 2019 at the Kaduna State High Court told Justice A.H Suleiman that the lives of his witnesses are been threatened and as such he was no longer going to present further witnesses.
Addressing the Tribunal through his Counsel, Morris A. Odeh (SAN), Senator Sani said he had no option than to stop further presentations of witnesses and close that aspect to save their lives.
Speaking to journalists after the case was adjourned to 8-9th July, 2019, Senator Shehu Sani’s Counsel led by Morris A. Odeh (SAN), A.A Ibrahim (SAN) and Barr. Zwannap Dashe said they had presented two witnesses before now, adding that when the Tribunal resumes for hearing on the 8-9th July, the respondents, All Progressive Congress, APC, INEC and Sentor Uba Sani will come to defend the case they have presented through the two witnesses.
“Most of our witnesses are from Birnin Gwari Local Government Area in Kaduna State and their lives are been threatened. They are scared of being killed, so we have no option than to close our case.
“You know Tribunal does not allow substitution of witnesses otherwise we would have done that but in this case we were forced to close it,” Morris Odey (SAN) said.
