Residents of Marafa in Kaduna North Local Government Area have commended Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, for appointing one of their sons, Hon. Sadiq Mamman Lagos, as Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, saying the appointment has brought development to the area.
The residents expressed appreciation to the governor for remembering Marafa in his administration’s development agenda, particularly through the construction and completion of quality road projects and the provision of waste bins to support proper waste evacuation and environmental sanitation.
They said the projects had provided visible evidence of government presence in the community, noting that previous administrations had come and gone without significant development being attracted to Marafa.
According to them, the situation changed under the present administration, as Governor Uba Sani, through the efforts of Sadiq Mamman Lagos, has ensured that Marafa is also benefiting from government interventions.
One of the residents said it was difficult to find a person like Lagos, who, despite occupying a high government position, had not forgotten the community where he lived and grew up.
They commended the commissioner for remembering his roots and using his position to attract projects that directly affect the lives of residents, describing such commitment to one’s community as rare in the present political environment.
“We are grateful to Governor Uba Sani for appointing our son as commissioner.
Since he assumed office, he has not forgotten Marafa. We can now see government projects in our area, especially the roads and waste management facilities,” a resident said.
Another resident said successive administrations had made promises to communities within Kaduna metropolis, but Marafa had often been left behind in terms of visible infrastructure.
He noted that the intervention under Governor Uba Sani had given residents a renewed sense of belonging, stressing that the people now felt that they were part of the state government’s development agenda.
The residents also praised Mamman Lagos for what they described as his commitment to ensuring that the governor succeeds, saying the commissioner had demonstrated that political appointment could be used to serve the wider interests of the people.
The road projects in Marafa are part of the administration’s broader grassroots development efforts, with the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs playing a role in ensuring that communities benefit from government interventions.
The provision of waste bins is also expected to strengthen waste evacuation and discourage indiscriminate dumping, complementing the administration’s efforts to maintain a clean and healthy Kaduna metropolis.
