Youth, Sports Development Critical In Gov Uba Sani Agenda, Says Mamman Lagos

Kaduna State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Sadiq Mamman Lagos has said that Youth and Sports Development form a critical part of the SUSTAIN agenda of the administration of Governor Uba Sani.

The commissioner reiterated commitment of Governor Uba Sani to developing youth through sports and other vital recreational activities.

Hon. Mamman Lagos, made it known while inaugurating Main Organizing Committee (MOC) tagged ” Senator Uba Sani Unity Cup 2023/2024 in Kaduna.

He decried the absence of a known and thriving football club in the state, describing the situation as sad and disheartening.

He expressed optimism that Kaduna state would soon have a club in the country’s apex League.

” Your duty as members of this great committee is to work together to organize a befitting competition targeted at drawing talents from the grassroots across all the 23 local government areas of the state in the name of our dear Governor, Senator Uba Sani.

” We want a competition that serve as an avenue for recruiting raw talents from the grassroot, a competition we will be proud of and you must be fair to all and you should not allow your personal interest to interfere with the general aim of the competition.

“We want to use football to take the young ones away from drugs, away from crimes and away from insecurity to ensure peace and unity among our people”, Mamman Lagos stated.

He urged the committee to organize a competition that the Governor and the good people of state will be proud to associate with.

Chairman of the MOC and ex-International Tijjani Babangida (MON) commended governor Uba Sani for the vision, just as he lauded the MOC, noting that it is made up of the best football organisers within and outside Kaduna state.

“Football is played in main cities while rural areas are forgotten. We will go out without selfish interest to the urban and rural areas to bring top talents together to form a football club for Kaduna state. We still have Kaduna United and other teams that would form a good rivalry.

“We will give our best to ensure that we achieve the objectives of the competition,” the former Super Eagles and Ajax of Amsterdam winger added.
