It was a sight to behold, when Journalists were taken on a tour to the Millennium City, Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna metropolis.
This is in his quest to provide decent accommodation for the masses, Governor Uba Sani in collaboration with Qatari Government embarked on building modern housing units for the less privileged in Kaduna State.
The landmark project, the first of its kind in the state, being a charity of Qatar Sanabil Initiative, with the target of 100 houses in the first phase and subsequent 400 in future, making it a total of 500, is progressing steadily, according to Uba Sani who led newsmen on an inspection tour of the construction at the Millennium City over the weekend.
The mass housing units when completed, would have socio-economic infrastructure such as malls, poultry, farmlands for wet and dry seasons farming and also health centre for inhabitants of the estates.
Governor Uba Sani disclosed that the project would form part of Kaduna Economic City with the prospect of providing clean, decent and modern atmosphere for human habitation, and above all, according to the Governor provide affordable accommodation in a conducive environment with adequate security for thriving of business activities.
“Having decent shelters for my subjects has formed bulk of my policy for the State.
“The importance of decent accommodation in driving human development and economic prosperity cannot be overemphasized.
“Thus, We made it an economic blueprint of our administration which must be timely actualized to bring succour, especially for our less privileged population so they too can have a deep sense of belonging.
“I shall not relent in seeking more and more international supports and collaborations to make this vision of mass housing project a huge success and a model for others to emulate, ” he vowed.
The governor was accompanied by top government officials from relevant ministries and agencies during the inspection of the projects.
