Northern Speakers Forum has expressed appreciation to Governor Nasir el-Rufai of Kaduna State and Speaker Kaduna State House of Assembly, Rt. Honourable Yusuf Zailani for their warm reception as well as hospitality in hosting the Northern Speakers meeting.
This was expressed at end of Northern Speakers Forum in Kaduna on Saturday July 11, 2020 in the text of Communique read by the Speaker Gombe State House of Assembly, Hon Abubakar Ibrahim Sadiq.
They praised Rt. Honourable Zailani for making it possible to convene the meeting as well as committing resources in ensuring it’s success.
The Forum said that the COVID-19 pandemic is real, and all efforts should be put in place to prevent its further spread in Nigeria.
They appreciated efforts of the Federal and State Governments in tackling the pàndemic, while appealing to the Federal Government to provide testing materials and kits in all states of the country.
They agreed to work with legislative orders as put in place by State assemblies.
They expressed concerns on insecurity in Nigeria, appealing to FG in doubling efforts at tackling insecurity in North.
“We appeal to the FG to redouble efforts in tackling insecurity in North,” they said.
Northern Speakers appreciated the FG its social Intervention programmes aimed at boosting livelihood of several families, with the N-power cited as a good example.
They vowed to domesticate Violence Against Persons Prohibition (VAP) Act in all state assemblies in the North, in line with what is obtainable at the Federal level.
