Kaduna Govt Reaffirms Commitment to Transparency at January JAAC Meeting

The Kaduna State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Sadiq Mamman Lagos, presided over the January Technical and Plenary Session of the Joint Account Allocation Committee (JAAC), aimed at strengthening accountability and coordination in local government administration.

The meeting was held at the newly upgraded Conference Hall of the Ministry of Local Government Affairs in Kaduna.
It brought together key stakeholders in local governance and public financial management, including chairmen and representatives of the 23 Local Government Councils in the state.

Also in attendance were Directors of Finance and Directors of Budget from all the local government councils, alongside senior officials of the Ministry of Local Government Affairs.

Representatives of major state and federal agencies participated in the session, among them the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), the Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Agency (RUWASSA), Kaduna State Internal Revenue Service (KADIRS) and the Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC).

Others present were officials from the Office of the Accountant-General of Kaduna State, the Federal Pay Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation, the Primary Health Care Board (PHCB), the State Pension Board and the Local Government Service Board (LGSB).

The meeting also received a boost with the presence of the Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources, Hon. Abubakar Buba, who paid a courtesy visit during the session.

Discussions at the meeting focused on issues relating to statutory allocations, financial accountability, effective utilisation of funds and improved service delivery at the grassroots level.

Hon. Sadiq Mamman Lagos emphasised the importance of adherence to due process and prudent financial management in the administration of local government resources.

He noted that the JAAC meeting provided a vital platform for collaboration, information sharing and collective decision-making among stakeholders in the local government system.

The commissioner reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to transparency, accountability and strengthening institutional frameworks to ensure that funds allocated to local governments translate into tangible development for communities across Kaduna State.
