Amid Challenging Insecurity Context in Jos
PAWAS Academy is currently undergoing a structured reawakening through its ongoing Football Elite Exposure Camp (ELEX 2026).
The Elite Exposure camp is a high-intensity programme running from April 5–10 across Jos and Abuja. The camp, which began in Jos under tight curfew conditions linked to ongoing ethno religious tensions, has now transitioned into its Abuja phase.
Out of 10 players initially selected, only 5 progressed to Abuja following a rigorous screening process. Young athletes are undergoing a blended model of training that combines on-pitch technical development with classroom-based sessions on career pathways, vocational awareness, and financial literacy, reflecting a shift from traditional sports academy systems where sports is all that counts; toward a more holistic athlete preparation for contribution to society.
The technical leadership of Coach Tanko Umar of PAWAS Academy has been complemented by the presence of Emmanuel Babayaro the Ex Nigerian International player and the Coach of Emmanual Babayaro Pioneers Football Club, who brings the special layer of elite exposure which is rarely accessible at grassroots level.
His sessions focus on game intelligence, positioning, and real-match decision-making under pressure.
Beyond structured programming, the camp has already demonstrated its values through inclusive gestures, providing sporing kits to the young athletes a young aspiring player who was not formally enrolled but also received a football kit to aid his development.
Camp Coordinator Francis Emmanuel Tsaku captured the sprit of the camp. He said: “We are seeking to create a total leader and not just athletes.”
The camp will conclude with a friendly match at Abacha Barracks Football Pitch in Abuja on Friday, April 10, 2026, serving as both a performance assessment and a public showcase. Scouts and fans are invited to watch.
