Forum petitions INEC, alleges certificate discrepancies against Kaduna Senator

A group under the aegis of the Concerned Kaduna Central Intellectual Forum has alleged irregularities in the academic credentials of the Senator representing Kaduna Central, Lawal Adamu Usman, popularly known as Mr LA, ahead of the 2027 general elections.

In a statement signed by Shehu Adamu on behalf of the forum, the group claimed that some of the certificates being paraded by the lawmaker were not authentic, alleging that findings from institutions purportedly attended by him raised questions about their validity.

The forum specifically alleged discrepancies relating to results said to have been issued by Ameer Shehu Idris College of Advanced Studies, Zaria, as well as an NBAIS Nov/Dec 2012 result with examination number 029, which it claimed originally belonged to another candidate.

According to the group, officials of the issuing body had, in a separate proceeding, allegedly described the result in question as forged, though the forum provided documentary evidence to support their claims in the statement.

The group further alleged that the Senator’s Neco examinations purportedly obtained from Diamond Academy and Adeyemo College of Arts and Science, as well as confirmation from demonstration primary school and government day secondary school, gwagwalada, abuja, were questionable.

It claimed that inquiries it conducted suggested that the Senator was never a student of the institutions mentioned, and challenged him to publicly clarify the issues surrounding his academic history.

The forum said it would not support what it described as a “questionable candidature” in the 2027 elections, insisting that any aspirant seeking public office must present verifiable and authentic credentials.

The group also called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to thoroughly scrutinise documents submitted by aspirants, urging political parties in kaduna state to exercise caution before granting tickets to any candidate facing allegations.

Efforts to obtain a response from the Senator were unsuccessful as at the time of filing this report.
