The Honourable Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Sadiq Mamman Lagos has commended Kaduna state Governor, Senator Uba Sani following the splash in school fees for tertiary institution students in the state.
It could be recalled that the Governor on Monday, announced the downward review of current fees in state-owned tertiary institutions as a way of giving out palliatives to both parents and students.
Under the new fees regime, the fees have been reviewed to be Kaduna State University – Current Fee: N150,000 – Reduction (%): 30% – New Fee: N105,000, Nuhu Bamalli Polytechnic, Current Fee: N100,000 – Reduction (%): 50% – New Fee: N50,000, College of Education, Gidan Waya – Current Fee: N75,000 – Reduction (%): 50% – New Fee: N37,500 , Shehu Idris College of Health Sciences & Technology, Makarfi •HND Courses – Current Fee: N100,000 – Reduction (%): 30% -New Fee: N70.000, ND Courses – Current Fee: N75,000 – Reduction (%): 30% – New Fee: N52,000 and Kaduna State College of Nursing – Current Fee: N100,000 – Reduction (%): 30% – New Fee: N70,000.
Hon. Sadiq in a statement issued to newsmen in Kaduna on Tuesday, said the downward review of the fees without doubt, will help cushion the effect of subsidy removal by the Federal government that plunge the country into economic meltdown in recent times.
Sadiq while congratulating parents on the new development said most people are affected on the ground that food stuff and other means of livelihood has skyrocketed making life very difficult for the common man.
He added that parents are passing through hard times and therefore the governor’s intervention is apt so as to encourage the people in other for them not to abandoned their studies on the ground of exorbitant school fees.
The local Government Boss reiterated that the governor has relieved the pain of both the young and adults in the state by this kind gesture, revealed that governor Uba Sani is passionately committed to the welfare of Kaduna citizens and therefore all hands must be on deck to support his administration so as to achieve the desired results for the collective good of Kaduna state.
