Boko Haram Suffers Heavy Casualty As Army Repels Attack On Damaturu

…Governor hails gallant troops

The Nigerian Army has effectively repelled Boko Haram attack on Damaturu in the evening of Sunday the 22nd of December 2019. 

Reliable information from some locals in Damaturu and environs indicated that the the insurgents suffered heavy casualties as the Nigerian Army acted on prior intelligence of the possibility of Boko Haram attack on the city and so prepared fully for the terrorists. 

This led to many of the insurgents losing their lives as unconfirmed report has it that 30 terrorists were killed and many gun trucks and Ammunition were recovered by the Nigerian Military.

Following failed attempt to take control of Damaturu, Yobe state capital by Boko Haram terrorists on Sunday, governor Mai Mala Buni has called on the people of the state to remain calm stating that, the military is on top of the situation.
He also said that plans were underway to restrategise the fight against the dreaded insurgents, adding that such attacks will soon become history.

The governor said, the current situation also calls for prayers, assuring the people that plans are underway to change the narrative and therefore called for the people to remain confident and go about their normal activities.

While applauding the military for their gallantry in repelling the attack, Governor Buni saluted, “ the courage and determination on the part of the military that thwarted the insurgents attempt so that Yobe and indeed Nigeria will have some peace”.
