A governorship aspirant on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kaduna State, Rt. Hon. Shehu Usman Bawa (ABG), has declared that the party is poised to reclaim power from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general elections.
Bawa made the assertion during separate meetings with PDP stakeholders in Zones 1 and 2, where he also sought their backing ahead of key political activities in the state.
Addressing a large gathering of party loyalists, the aspirant urged residents of Kaduna State to “wake up” and take decisive action, insisting that the prevailing hardship under the current administration is becoming unbearable for ordinary citizens.
He criticised the security situation in the state, claiming that conditions have worsened compared to the period when the PDP was in power, and called for urgent action to restore safety.
The PDP chieftain also highlighted the rising cost of living, noting that essential commodities such as food and fuel were more affordable under previous PDP administrations.
According to him, many citizens have been forced to abandon the use of their vehicles due to the high cost of fuel, describing the situation as a reflection of deepening economic strain.
Bawa took a swipe at government palliative measures, arguing that such interventions are inadequate to address the scale of hardship faced by citizens.
He urged Nigerians to prioritise long-term solutions over temporary relief, stressing the need for a leadership change that would address structural economic challenges.
The aspirant maintained that granting another term to the ruling party would further compound the difficulties facing the people, insisting that the 2027 elections present an opportunity for change.
He called on PDP stakeholders across the state to close ranks and work collectively towards ensuring the party’s victory at the polls.
Bawa assured party members of his unwavering commitment to strengthening the PDP and delivering responsive leadership if elected.
In their separate remarks, PDP zonal chairmen commended Bawa for his consistent support to the party, describing him as a dependable figure within the PDP fold.
They pledged their full support for his governorship ambition, expressing confidence in his capacity to lead the party to victory in the forthcoming elections.
