ABG Empowers 100 Youth, Women On Agric Extension In Kaduna

In his quest to take Kaduna Youth and women out of poverty, Former Member, House of Representatives, Hon Shehu Bawa ABG has in collaboration with Federal College of Land Resources Technology, Jos Plateau State organized a- two-day training programme aimed at imparting participants with modern agric Extension Techniques in order to tackle high rate of unemployment which he said was the root cause of crime and other anti-social behaviors amongst youth in the society.

Addressing newsmen at venue of the training program, Shehu ABG said the aim of the training was to reduce the rate of unemployment which according to him had become endemic, particularly in the North-West Region which he said had the highest number of unemployed youth in Nigeria.

He added that 100 participants would be given starter packages to enable them put into practice the skills they would have learned during the course of the workshop.

Speaking earlier, the Provost of the College, Mr Nanjwan Jacob represented by the Head of Department, Soil Science Technology Malam Shettima Dogo said core objective of the training was to empower people especially the youth and women in the area of agricultural science especially horticulture which he said was one of the most important branch of agriculture.

He said that beneficiaries of the training were carefully selected for efficiency and effectiveness to have a wide Geopolitical spread in the state.

Mr Labaran Saleh lauded efforts of ABG who he said had done so much to uplifting his constituents from the scourge of poverty .

He urged beneficiaries to make judicious use of material and academic gains to impact lives of their families and the society at large.

Lami Musa who was also a beneficiary said youth unemployment would be drastically reduced and challenged other Stakeholders in the state to emulate the former Federal Legislator by putting the interest of their people at heart.
