Bakauye Seeks Expanded Military Offensive to Reclaim Zamfara Communities

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Zamfara State, Engr. Ibrahim Shehu Bakauye, has called for the expansion of ongoing military operations against bandits to all troubled parts of the state, saying sustained offensives are necessary to restore peace and enable farmers to return to their farmlands.

Bakauye made the appeal while commending security agencies for recent successes recorded in the fight against armed banditry, describing the gains as encouraging and a sign that coordinated security efforts are beginning to yield positive results.

He particularly praised security operatives for the operation in Anka Local Government Area, where a notorious bandit leader, Kachalla Yellow, was reportedly killed, as well as another operation in Gummi Local Government Area that led to the neutralisation of several suspected bandits.

According to him, the operations have renewed the hope of residents who have endured years of attacks, displacement and destruction of livelihoods.

The PDP governorship candidate, however, urged the security agencies not to relent, stressing that more communities still require urgent intervention.

He said extending the operations to other affected local government areas would improve security, allow displaced residents to return home and give farmers the confidence to resume cultivation, thereby boosting food production and economic activities.

Bakauye also commended the courage and sacrifices of military personnel and other security operatives, saying their commitment to protecting lives and property under difficult conditions deserved the support and appreciation of Nigerians.

He appealed to religious leaders and residents of the state to continue praying for the success of security operations and for lasting peace across Zamfara.

According to him, the combined efforts of security agencies and the prayers of citizens remain vital to overcoming the security challenges confronting the state.

The PDP stalwart also expressed sympathy with residents over the hardship occasioned by insecurity and prevailing economic challenges, assuring them that peace, security and improved living conditions would remain priorities in efforts aimed at rebuilding Zamfara.

He stressed that defeating banditry requires sustained collaboration among security agencies, government and the people, urging all stakeholders to remain united in the collective effort to restore normalcy across the state.
