Aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for Makera Constituency in Kaduna South Local Government Area, Solomon Nuhu Katuka, has emerged winner of the party’s 2026 State House of Assembly primary election.
The result sheet obtained after the exercise showed that Katuka defeated his opponent, Ahmed Ibrahim, by a wide margin in the keenly contested primary conducted across the wards in the constituency.
According to the summary result sheet signed by the Returning Officer, Abdulqadir Aliyu B., the election was held on May 22, 2026, with delegates from the five wards participating in the process.
The breakdown of the results indicated that in Barnawa Ward, Solomon Nuhu Katuka polled 26 votes against Ahmed Ibrahim’s six votes. In Makera Ward, Katuka secured 24 votes while Ibrahim got two votes.
At Television Ward, Katuka recorded 30 votes as against Ibrahim’s three votes. In Kakuri Gwari Ward, the PDP aspirant garnered 25 votes while his rival polled five votes.
Similarly, in Kakuri Hausa Ward, Katuka won overwhelmingly with 30 votes, while Ahmed Ibrahim failed to secure any vote in the ward.
At the end of the collation, Solomon Nuhu Katuka emerged victorious with a total of 135 votes, defeating Ahmed Ibrahim who scored 16 votes.
Party officials who monitored the exercise described the primary election as peaceful, transparent and credible, noting that delegates conducted themselves in an orderly manner throughout the exercise.
Speaking shortly after the declaration of results, supporters of the victorious aspirant celebrated the outcome, describing Katuka as a grassroots politician with the capacity to represent the people effectively at the Kaduna State House of Assembly.
They expressed confidence that the PDP candidate would strengthen the party’s chances in Makera Constituency ahead of the 2027 general election.
The election result was subsequently endorsed and signed by party officials and electoral officers present at the venue.
