Former member of the House of Representatives from Zamfara State, Engr. Ibrahim Gusau, has declared that tackling insecurity will be his top priority if elected governor of the state in the 2027 general elections.
Gusau made the declaration while submitting his nomination form at the party’s secretariat in Gusau, the Zamfara State capital, where he was received by party officials and supporters.
The governorship aspirant said Zamfara State has suffered greatly from banditry, kidnapping and other violent crimes, stressing that urgent and decisive action is needed to restore peace across the state.
According to him, no meaningful development can take place in an atmosphere of fear and uncertainty, adding that the protection of lives and property remains the primary responsibility of government.
He assured party members and residents of the state that his administration would work closely with security agencies, traditional rulers and community leaders to address the lingering security challenges confronting the state.
Gusau further stated that his government would also focus on intelligence gathering, youth empowerment and community policing as part of measures to curb criminal activities in rural and urban communities.
The former lawmaker said many young people in the state have been left unemployed and vulnerable, noting that empowering youths through skills acquisition and job creation would help reduce insecurity.
He maintained that agriculture, education and healthcare would also receive adequate attention under his proposed administration in order to improve the living conditions of the people.
The aspirant urged members of the party to remain united and committed ahead of the 2027 elections, saying only collective efforts can guarantee victory at the polls.
He expressed confidence that the people of Zamfara State are ready for purposeful leadership that will address their challenges and move the state forward.
Party officials at the secretariat commended Gusau for his commitment and peaceful conduct during the submission process, assuring all aspirants of a level playing field during the party primaries.
Supporters of the aspirant who accompanied him to the secretariat expressed optimism that Gusau possesses the experience and leadership qualities needed to tackle insecurity and bring development to Zamfara State.
