The Kaduna State Supervisory Councillors Forum has conferred an Excellence Award on the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Sadiq Mamman Lagos, in recognition of his contributions to grassroots governance and public service delivery in the state.
The presentation took place on Tuesday at the Commissioner’s office in the Ministry of Local Government Affairs, Kaduna, amid commendations for his leadership style and commitment to strengthening local government administration.
Presenting the award, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Stakeholders’ Relations, Hon. Dr. Abdul Ahmed Isiaq, said the honour was in appreciation of Hon. Sadiq’s loyalty, dedication and consistent support to the policies and programmes of the Kaduna State Government.
He noted that the Commissioner has played a critical role in fostering cooperation between the state government and the 23 local government councils, thereby enhancing service delivery at the grassroots.
Dr. Isiaq added that the award reflected the collective appreciation of supervisory councillors across the state, who, according to him, have benefitted from the Commissioner’s inclusive leadership and open-door policy.
In his response, Hon. Sadiq Mamman Lagos expressed gratitude to the forum for the recognition, describing the award as an encouragement to do more in service to the people of Kaduna State.
He pledged to continue supporting the administration of Governor Uba Sani, stressing that his efforts are geared towards ensuring effective local government administration and sustainable development across communities.
The Commissioner further stated that he harbours no ambition for elective office, noting that his primary focus remains contributing meaningfully to governance and supporting continuity in leadership.
According to him, sustained support for Governor Uba Sani’s administration is crucial to consolidating ongoing reforms and delivering the dividends of democracy to citizens at the grassroots level.
