Senegal Polls: National Youth Alliance Hails Electorate, Says Same Possible For Nigeria In 2027

While hailing the outcome of Senegal’s presidential polls held on Sunday, which saw opposition leader, Bassirou Diomaye Faye set to become president, National Youth Alliance (NYA) is optimistic that same will be replicated in Nigeria come 2027 general elections.

This was expressed in a statement signed by the SA Media and Publicity to the NYA President, Ambassador Aliyu Bin Abbas, Okpani Jacob Onjewu Dickson, made available to newsmen on Wednesday March 27, 2024 in Kaduna.

“What happened in Senegal will be replicated in Nigeria in 2027. Just as the youth spoke with one voice, Nigerian youth are being mobilized to speak with one voice,” the statement said.

It explained that Senegal’s little-known, 44-year-old opposition leader Bassirou Diomaye Faye was named the country’s next president on Monday, less than two weeks after being released from prison to run in the election.

“This resonates the power of the youth, who were provoked by unemployment and poor economic conditions. This same situation is what Nigerian youth are facing and we will work hard to change the story,” Ambassador Abbas was quoted by the statement.

He urged Nigerian youth to remain patriotic and focused as they prepare to take the country three years from now.
