Senatorial candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC)Alhaji Atiku Abubakar Sale urges party supporters to mobilise voters as he condoles families of victims of recent killings in Maru and other communities.
The senatorial candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar Sale has intensified consultations with religious leaders, traditional rulers and party stakeholders across the state.
Sale, who holds the traditional titles of Baraden Maru and Turakin Ruwan Dorowa, addressed the gathering, saying the turnout demonstrated the party’s level of support in Zamfara and expressing confidence in the people.
He also extended his condolences to families affected by recent killings in Maru and other parts of the state, acknowledging the pain and insecurity confronting affected communities.
*Candidate Seeks Clerics’ Prayers and Support*
As part of his engagements, Sale, accompanied by the ADC governorship candidate in Zamfara State, Alhaji Bilyaminu Yusuf Shinkafi, and other party members, paid courtesy visits to Islamic clerics in Gusau.
The religious leaders welcomed the delegation and offered prayers for its members.
During the visits, Sale acknowledged the influence and responsibilities of Islamic scholars in the state and appealed for their continued prayers.
The engagements formed part of the candidate’s outreach to religious and community leaders as the party seeks to strengthen its relationships with key stakeholders across Zamfara.
*Visit to Maru Emir*
The ADC delegation also visited Maru and Bungudu to condole with the people over the current insecurity situation and loss of lives across the communities.
In Maru, Sale and other party officials paid a courtesy visit to the Emir, His Royal Highness. Alhaji Ibrahim Gado Mai Gari Banagan Maru, Emir of Maru, Zamfara State, where the senatorial candidate acknowledged the important role traditional institutions play in community leadership and social cohesion.
The visit provided an opportunity for the delegation to engage with the traditional institution and recognise its place in the social and cultural life of the area.
*Party Leaders Urged to Mobilise Voters*
The candidate also met ADC stakeholders from Bungudu and Maru and held a stakeholders meeting at Sabon Gari in Bungudu where he urged party officials and supporters to intensify voters registration and education and mobilisation ahead of the elections.
Sale called on the party’s grassroots structures to encourage supporters to participate in the electoral process and vote for the party’s candidates.
He particularly highlighted the senatorial and presidential elections, describing them as important contests for the party’s broader electoral ambitions in Zamfara State.
He urged stakeholders to work towards greater coordination and participation across their respective communities.

The inauguration of the campaign committee and the candidate’s consultations come against the backdrop of security concerns in Maru and other parts of Zamfara, where recent killings have left families and communities grieving.
