Former VP Abubakar Eligible To Contest Election In Nigeria, Says PDP Youth Leader

People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Youth Leader Ibrahim Ibrahim Ahmadu has carpeted critics of former Nigeria’s Vice president Atiku Abubakar on his origin, saying the former second citizen in the country reserves every right to vie for any elective position.
Ahmadu who was reacting to position held by some Nigerians that former VP Atiku should be barred from standing election in Nigeria due to the controversy surrounding his country of origin, said the ex customs Chief had distinguished himself in service to country and humanity, describing the indigene issue as laughable and a tissue of lies propagated  to checkmate rising popularity of the former vice president.
Hon. Ibrahim Ibrahim Ahmadu who is the zonal youth leader of PDP National Youth Vanguard, added that contributions made by Atiku in growth and development of Nigeria’s democracy cannot be overemphasized.
Ahmadu recalled with nostalgia how Atiku Abubakar fought tooth and nail in ensuring that third term bid of his former boss did not succeed, expressing fear that had former president Obasanjo succeeded in getting an unconstitutional term that would have been the end of the nation’s democracy and beginning of chaos.
“We all must acknowledge the noble role former VP Abubakar played in truncating third term bid all in the interest of democracy and rule of law.
“If he had wanted to be selfish and greedy, he would have struck a deal with ObJ for  his inordinate advantages but he chose the path of honour and statesmanship , the result is what we’re enjoying as our democracy today.
” While he was customs boss, champion of return to civil rule, VP and other duties in service to fatherland, where were these people who are now challenging his origin? ”
” It is obvious they are afraid of overwhelming political influence of the Turakin Adamawa and are poised to do anything to stop him.
” My message to them; they can’t stand on the way of a moving train, they will get crushed and annihilated, ” he said.
He counselled promoters of what he described as dead on arrival campaign of calumny against the former VP to desist because, according to him they were fighting a lost battle.
