Budget Padding Allegation: Stop Eating Away Nigeria’s Future, National Youth Alliance Tells Senate

*Says Ningi should be celebrated, not suspended

Worried about the alleged padding of Nigeria’s 2024 Budget to the tune of about three trillion Naira, the National Youth Alliance (NYA) has warned the 10th Senate to stop toying with Nigeria’s future with such extravagance.

This was contained in a statement signed by the SA Media and Publicity to the NYA President, Ambassador Aliyu Bin Abbas, Okpani Jacob Onjewu Dickson, made available to newsmen in Kaduna on Saturday March 16, 2024.

“The news of the alleged budget Padding by the Senate, as revealed by Senator Abdul Ningi is worrisome and calls for discreet investigation.

“This is because, if true, such vagrant abuse of office is dangerous and portends danger for the future of our great country,” it said.

According to the statement, NYA said that instead of hastily suspending Senator Ningi amid the raging controversy, the Senate should have instead, ordered a thorough investigation into the incident

“Senator Ningi at this point in time, should be celebrated by all Nigerians, especially the youth, whose future he is protecting by exposing the gross abuse of office by presumably Distinguished Lawmakers,” it said.

NYA therefore, charged Nigerian youth to be devoid of political, ethnic or religious sentiments, to rise in patriotism and demand full investigation into the allegation of padding.
