NIPOST Pledges Modern Postal Services as Kaduna Marks 2026 World Post Day

The Nigerian Postal Service (NIPOST) in Kaduna State has reaffirmed its commitment to modernising postal operations, improving service delivery and expanding access to essential services as it joined postal administrations worldwide to mark the 2026 World Post Day.

The celebration, held at the NIPOST Kaduna State Headquarters, was commemorated under the global theme, “One Postal Network, Infinite Possibilities,” highlighting the evolving role of the postal sector in connecting people, businesses and governments.

In a press release issued by the Head of Corporate Communications in Kaduna State, Mallam Ibrahim Abdullahi, and read to staff by the Kaduna State Postal Manager, Mrs Joy Okonkwo, the Director-General of the Universal Postal Union International Bureau and the Postmaster General of the Federation, Tola Odeyemi, underscored the importance of a strong and interconnected postal network in driving economic and social development.

The statement noted that the postal sector had moved beyond its traditional role of delivering letters and parcels, with technological innovation, e-commerce and digital transformation creating new opportunities for postal administrations to improve efficiency and meet changing customer needs.

It explained that the theme reflected the strength and resilience of the global postal network, which comprises more than 660,000 post offices and 4.6 million postal workers worldwide.

According to the statement, the extensive network remains a critical channel for connecting communities, facilitating business transactions and ensuring that people, particularly those in rural and underserved areas, have access to essential services.

It added that postal services continue to play an important role in helping businesses reach new markets, promoting entrepreneurship and expanding access to financial services, healthcare and other opportunities that support inclusive development.

Speaking during the event, Okonkwo reaffirmed NIPOST Kaduna’s commitment to building a modern, efficient and customer-focused postal service capable of responding to the changing needs of individuals, businesses and communities.

She congratulated postal workers across Kaduna State and Nigeria on the occasion, describing World Post Day as an opportunity to celebrate the achievements of the postal sector, recognise the contributions of its workforce and explore new avenues for growth and innovation.

“As society evolves, the Post evolves with it. By continuing to innovate, the postal network is opening new possibilities while remaining true to its universal service mission,” the statement said.

The Kaduna State postal administration also called on stakeholders and members of the public to support efforts to reposition the sector through innovation, improved service delivery and the adoption of new technologies.

It stressed that sustained collaboration among postal administrations, businesses, governments and the public would be vital to unlocking the full potential of the postal network and ensuring that it remains relevant in an increasingly digital world.
