The Senate Committee on States and Local Government Administration has honoured the Kaduna State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Sadiq Mamman Lagos, with the Outstanding Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs in Nigeria award for his exemplary performance in grassroots governance and people-centred service delivery.

The award was presented in collaboration with Global Gold Consults Ltd, led by Engr. Kayode Adebayo, following what the organisers described as a thorough assessment of Hon. Lagos’ leadership, empowerment initiatives and commitment to strengthening local government administration in Kaduna State.

According to the Senate Committee, the recognition was in acknowledgement of the Commissioner’s dedication to inclusive governance, effective supervision of local councils and sustained efforts at ensuring that government policies translate into tangible benefits for citizens at the grassroots.

The Committee noted that under Hon. Mamman Lagos’ stewardship, local government administration in Kaduna State has witnessed improved coordination, enhanced community participation and renewed focus on programmes that directly impact livelihoods and community development.

The Senate Committee also commended Governor of Kaduna State, Sen. Dr. Uba Sani (CON), for his purposeful leadership and commitment to inclusive, people-oriented governance, which it said has continued to positively impact communities across the state, particularly at the grassroots level.

It observed that the Governor’s pro-people policy agenda has created an enabling environment for commissioners and local government officials to deliver responsive governance, promote accountability and drive sustainable development at the local level.

Speaking after receiving the award, Hon. Mamman Lagos expressed profound appreciation to the Senate Committee and Global Gold Consults Ltd for finding him worthy of the national recognition, describing the honour as both humbling and motivating.

He specifically thanked Governor Uba Sani for giving him the opportunity to serve in his administration, noting that the Governor’s leadership, guidance and trust have enabled him to contribute meaningfully to grassroots development and public service in Kaduna State.

The Commissioner reaffirmed his commitment to deepening good governance at the local government level, strengthening empowerment programmes and advancing infrastructural development in line with Governor Uba Sani’s vision of inclusiveness, accountability and people-centred governance.
