Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State
has flagged off reconstruction of 21.85km road from Pambeguwa to Kauru through Kahuta, linking Kubau and Kauru Local Government Areas in the state.
The Governor described the road as critical to the revitalization of the economies of Pambeguwa, Kauru, Kubau and surrounding areas.
“The mainstay of the economies of these areas is agriculture. They make significant contributions to our drive for food security.
“These areas however face the challenge of poor infrastructure, especially road infrastructure. Farmers are unable to transport their produce to markets, they suffer post -harvest losses. Access to medical and other services is hampered. The condition of living in these areas have worsened.
“Our administration’s Rural Transformation Agenda is been
aggressively pursued because it holds the key to unlocking the enormous potential of the State in the Agricultural and Informal Sectors, as well as frontally addressing the problems of poverty,
unemployment, and insecurity.
“We are equally addressing the infrastructure deficits in areas inhabited by the urban poor. We are keen on bridging the urban -rural divide by upgrading our road infrastructure. This would check rural -urban migration, give our citizens a sense of dignity wherever they reside, and create opportunities for people and businesses to thrive.
“I urge you all to give maximum cooperation to the contractors
to enable them complete the construction on schedule. The road,
when completed, will provide forward and backward linkages to farms and markets.
“It will also reduce post -harvest losses by farmers, as well as cost of transportation and travel time. It will
also provide employment opportunities for skilled, semi-skilled and unskilled labour during the construction period.
