Ramadan: Crash Prices Of Food Items, National Youth Alliance Urges Govts

As Muslim faithful commence the Holy Month of Ramadan on Monday March 11, 2024, the executive at the federal, State and local government levels across Nigeria have been urged to ease the suffering in the land by finding a way to crash the soaring prices of foot items.

This was expressed by the National Youth Alliance (NYA) in a statement signed by the SA Media and Publicity to the NYA President, Ambasador Aliyu Bin Abbas, Okpani Jacob Onjewu Dickson, made available on Monday March 11.

” Nigerians are in very difficult times at the moment and several families are finding it difficult to get a meal in a day, due to the inflation that has made prices of food items soar beyond the reach of the common man.

“As Ramadan begins, we are worried that if nothing is done, many families would be fasting on empty stomachs,” the statement said.

It explained that NYA President is therefore, appealing to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, governors of the 36 states, FCT Minister and chairmen of the 774 local government areas in the country to act fast in finding means to provide cheaper food stuff to Nigerians.

“This Holy Month of Ramadan is special and as such, it is important that no family stays hungry for one day. We are using this opportunity to also call on public spirited individuals and corporate organisations to reach out to the less privileged in this period, knowing that Almighty Allah will bless them abundantly,” Ambassador Abbas said.

He congratulated Muslims for witnessing yet another Ramadan, while praying for Allah’s Rahama all through the Holy Month.
