Kaduna Deputy Governor Chairs JAAC Session, Mamman Lagos, Others In Attendance

Deputy Governor of Kaduna State Dr. Hadiza Balarabe on Wednesday chaired Plenary Session of Joint Account Allocation Committee (JAAC) for the month of November as part of Governor Uba Sani’s principle of transparency and accountability in disbursement of pubic resources for provision of infrastructure needed for growth and development of the people.

Joined in the meeting held in the State’s Ministry for Local Government Affairs was the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs Hon Sadiq Mamman Lagos, Permanent Secretary Mahmud Lawal, all Chairmen of 23 Councils, heads of agencies and others.

The technical session for joint allocation of resources is critical in entrenching transparency, accountability and above all, in fulfillment of one of the principles of Open Governance to which Kaduna State is a signatory to.

The Deputy Governor harped on the need for even, effective and fair distribution of the shared funds to impact positively on lives of the masses, particularly those in the rural settlements.

She reiterated the resolve of Governor Uba Sani to ensure independence of local government as an important arm and by virtue of being the closest to the people to be utilized to realize the administration’s rural areas development plan.

In his submission, Hon Sadiq Mamman Lagos called on bosses of Local Governments to serve as agents of reaching out to the people through genuine empowerment and transparent distribution of resources for the purpose they were meant for.

He stressed the imperative of complementing the efforts of the State Government by Local Government Councils to achieve and sustain developmental initiatives of the Uba Sani led administration.

Mamman Lagos assured the people of the State of upholding tenets of democracy for transparent and accountable distribution of resources by local governments.
