Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, has donated an ambulance to the Federation of Muslim Women’s Associations in Nigeria (FOMWAN), Kaduna State Chapter, to strengthen healthcare delivery at its hospital, which has provided free medical services to residents for nearly three decades.
The ambulance was presented to the organisation on Wednesday in kaduna by the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Sadiq Mamman Lagos, who commended Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani for his commitment to improving the welfare of residents through interventions that address their needs.
Speaking during the presentation, the Executive Chairman of the Kaduna State Senior Secondary School Education Board, Dr. Suwaiba Shehu Ibrahim, described the donation as a significant intervention that would enhance the hospital’s capacity to provide healthcare services, particularly to women, children and other vulnerable members of the community.
She said the FOMWAN Hospital, located along Katuru Road in Kaduna, had remained committed to providing free medical services to residents over the years, making the ambulance an important addition to its healthcare facilities.
Ibrahim urged the organisation to ensure proper maintenance of the vehicle and use it responsibly to guarantee that it continued to serve the intended beneficiaries.
“My advice to them is to maintain it, make judicious use of it and make sure it is kept clean and in proper condition all the time, so that it can continue to serve the people,” she said.
She expressed confidence that the organisation would take good care of the ambulance, given its longstanding presence in the state and its commitment to serving the community.
In his remarks, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Sadiq Mamman Lagos, commended Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani for consistently demonstrating commitment to his promises and prioritising the welfare of the people of Kaduna State.
He said the donation reflected the governor’s determination to support organisations that complement government efforts in delivering essential services, particularly in the healthcare sector, where vulnerable residents often require additional assistance.
Mamman Lagos noted that the Kaduna State Government recognised the contributions of organisations such as FOMWAN, which had sustained free healthcare services for decades, and would continue to encourage initiatives that improve the quality of life of residents.
He added that Governor Uba Sani’s administration remained committed to people-oriented policies and interventions designed to support communities, strengthen healthcare delivery and ensure that the less privileged had access to essential services.
The commissioner urged FOMWAN to continue its humanitarian work, assuring the organisation of the state government’s commitment to partnerships that promote the wellbeing of residents.
Receiving the ambulance on behalf of the organisation, the President of FOMWAN, Kaduna State Chapter, Hajia Nafisat Musa Isah, expressed appreciation to Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani for the gesture, describing it as a major boost to the association’s healthcare services.
Isah disclosed that FOMWAN celebrated its 40th anniversary in 2025 but had not received such support from any government, describing the donation as a historic milestone for the organisation.
She said the ambulance would enhance the hospital’s ability to respond to emergencies and extend medical assistance to more people, particularly those who could not afford the cost of healthcare.
The FOMWAN president added that the donation would encourage the organisation to sustain and expand its free medical services to residents of Kaduna State.
She assured the governor that the organisation would ensure the proper use and maintenance of the vehicle, adding that the gesture would be remembered by FOMWAN at both state and national levels.
Isah also pledged the organisation’s support for Governor Uba Sani’s re-election bid in 2027, expressing hope that his administration would continue to introduce programmes and initiatives that directly benefit the people of Kaduna State.
