Kaduna : Fighting Corruption Entails World Class Professionalism – EFCC

The Economic and Financial Crime Commission ( EFCC) Kaduna Zonal office, has reiterated that fighting corruption is no joke as it entails world class professionalism, rigorous hardworking, resilience, integrity and ultimately God’s intervention if they must succeed.
The Zonal Head of the Commission in Kaduna state, Mr  Mailafiya Yakubu stated this during a press conference organised to commerate the country’s democracy day as well as to collectively keep tabs with development in the anti corruption fight.
According to him, the zonal office has recovered about seven hundred and eighteen million naira as a result of it’s rigorous investigation carried out between June last year to date.
Mr Yakubu added that two hundred and six thousand US dollars, ten exotic residential buildings comprising duplexes and bungalows, one Shopping Complex and one functional pure water factory were recovered within the period.

He further stated that, one filling station, one farm house, as well as twelve  cars of different models running Into billions of naira have been also recovered on behalf of the public and private individuals.

“For the sakes of clarity be informed that a final forfeiture have been granted on two out of the ten residential properties whole the remaining eight have been granted an interim forfeiture pending the final judgement by the Court.

” It is very important that I also let the general public know that the EFCC whose eagle eyes never slumber is always vigilant on all fraud related activities that takes place globally.

” A total of eight hundred and seventy one petitions were received by the Zonal head office with about one hundred and fifty nine cases with the legal and prosecution Directorate for legal advice”, he added.
He went further to say that,  a total of one hundred and twenty six petitions were rejected and transferred to various collaborating agencies as they do not fall under the purview of the EFCC mandate.
He also  revealed that, a total of thirty convictions have been recorded in the time under review.
He however appreciated various security agencies, Nigeria Union of Journalist and other relavant stakeholders for their collaboration as the commission continue to rid the country of Economic and Financial crimes.
