PDP Youths Urges For A Free, Fair, Transparent Party Congress In Niger State

National leadership of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and its Board of Trustees ( BOT ) have been urged to mandate Niger state party and to allow a peaceful conduct of party congress in order to position the largest opposition party in its bid to recapture power in the state and at the centre.
In a press statement signed by Concerned Forum of the party in Cross Rivers State led by Haruna Amodu, challenging the legitimacy and continuous stay of the present party leaders in the state, describing the development as counterproductive and capable of rendering the party weak and unprepared to wrestle power from the current governor of Niger state.
While commending former VP Atiku Abubakar and former president of the senate David Mark for their roles and contributions in growth and development of PDP in Niger state and Nigeria in general, Amodu expressed concern at the present undemocratic happenings in the party which he said if left unchecked had the potential of making the party to lose a great chunk of her membership before 2023 general election.
He thanks Atiku Abubakar and David Mark and other party stakeholders for throwing their weights on making sure that congress took place in Niger state.
“The present sorry state of our party must be addressed immediately by conducting a congress which is a provision in any party .
“Niger has always been a PDP state since 1999 all through until mistakes were made here and there and the state slipped off from us.
” Now is the time to take it back so that we will provide the needed leadership and take the state out of its present predicament caused by leadership deficit of the ruling APC.
” The first step to do that is to ensure conduct of congress that would position the party well before the next general election.
” We therefore call on our national leaders, including the BOT and NWC to heed our patriotic and timely call to do the needful in the interest, growth and development of our great party, ” he said.
