The Commandant, Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA), Major General Jamil Sarham, has today commissioned two ultramodern Mammy Markets at the Ribadu Cantonment and Afaka to cater for the needs of NDA community in both campuses.
The commissioning formed part of several Commandant Intervention Projects borne out of the desire to improve the welfare of staff and personnel serving the Academy.
Other projects commissioned by the Commandant include the perimeter fencing of Ribadu, remodeled Quarter Guard and Hospital in Ribadu. The Commandant also unveiled 34 horses for cadets equitation training.
Speaking at the event, Maj Gen Sarham commended the efforts of staff of the Academy for their commitment to cadets training and development. He used the occasion to emphasise the need for both military and civilian staff to uphold the high standards required to train competent officers for the armed forces.
Gen Sarham further admonished personnel not to compromise standards while training cadets. He assured them of a conducive working environment and improved welfare.
The commissioning ceremony underscores a string of new projects that have so far been commissioned since General Sarham assumed office as Commandant NDA a year ago.
