GEIDAM TERRORISTS’ ATTACK: Troops Overpower Boko Haram Insurgents, 13 Killed/Arms Recovered

Reports going round from the locals in Geidam town have revealed that residents were happy when Boko Haram insurgents were subdued by the military when they tried to attack the town on Monday afternoon making several people to scamper for safety.

Similarly, reliable information from within the military who didn’t want to be published because is not authorized to speak to the Press has confided that Boko Haram/ISWAP Terrorists, at about 1130 hours on Monday, April 20, 2020, attempted to attack Geidam town, the Headquarters of Geidam Local Government Area of Yobe State.

However, troops of 159 Battalion in Sector 2 in conjunction with the Air Task Force on Operation LAFIYA DOLE effectively/swiftly intercepted and engaged the criminals in fierce exchange of fire.

The troops overpowered the insurgents and forced them to retreat and scampered in disarray into different locations in the bushes.

This reporter has learnt that the troops are on pursuit of the fleeing insurgents and have so far killed thirteen (13) terrorists, recovered two (2) gun trucks with DUSHKHA Guns and Six (6) AK 47 rifles.

Alhaji Buni kachalla a shop owner in Geidam applauded the efforts of the military in decimating the terrorists and stopping the planned attack on the community. This was coming in less than 48 hours when the military had claimed to have neutralized over 100 insurgents when they attempted to attack Buni Gari in Gujba local government area of Yobe State on Saturday 18 April 2020.

“At the moment, the terrorists have been subdued, situation in Geidam town and environs has been normalized and troops are currently on a follow up/exploitation operation” .

“There is no casualty or lost of equipment on the part of the nigerian troops”- the source added.
